NIRMAL HRIDAY CHURCH

History: Ten bighas land was purchased at Dhobajole, near Ahmedpur in 2005. In the same year, in June, Fr. Robert R. D' Souza shifted his residence to Laghata from Bolpur to look after the pastoral needs of Laghata and Ahmedpur. Mass was celebrated at Mr. Dhanjoy Hembrom's house at Dhobajole and construction of the community centre was started in June 2006. Bishop Cyprian Monis blessed the Centre and dedicated it to Nirmal Hriday on 8th December 2007. Frs. Robert R. D' Souza and Clarence Bhaju and Bro. Stephen Britto started staying at the new centre from December 2007 to look after the pastoral needs of Paharpur and EDU. An English Medium Nursery School was started at Ahmadpur, on April 10, 2008 with 36 students and until August 2013 was managed by the Providence Sisters. In 2013 a separate plot of 10 bigha land was purchased at Mritadaspur for school, girls hostel and for convent. In 2016 school was shifted to newly constructed school building. Francisican Sisters of St. Aloysius Gonzaga came to the parish in June 2014 to teach in the school and to take care of the hostel girls. The hostel for girls and the Convent was shifted to new building at Mritadaspur in June 2016
