History: Kristo Jyothi, Kurmun, was a sub-centre of Sacred Heart Parish, Burdwan. Frs. Valerian Fernandes &I.P.Sarto, during their tenure in Burdwan Sacred Heart Parish, started a separate Mass Centre at Kurmun village for better pastoral care of the people of that area. Fr. Valerian bought the land vacated by ONGC as they did not get any sign of oil or gas in this area. Kristo Jyothi Community Centre was blessed and inaugurated by Bishop Cyprian Monis in 2004. Sisters of Charity established their community in the same year. The foundation stone for the convent building was blessed in May 2006 and the new convent was inaugurated in 2009. Priests started to reside at Kurmun from 2012 which gave more impetus to the evangelization work. Fr. Clarence Bhaju was the first priest who started to reside at the Center. After the Sisters of Charity leaving Sisters of St. Anne's of Chennai established their community in the Center and started to work in pastoral and social development of the locality from the year 2013 onwards.
